We will meet at 108 Bassett Hill Rd., Guilford - look for the giant mushroom mailbox!
Bassett Hill resident Matt Stinchfield (aka Matty Adams), Guilford's tree warden, will show us around the less-frequented southeast corner of our fair town. We will see some old foundations left by early homesteaders, imagine what the place looked like 150 years ago, learn to recognize diseases affecting ash, beech, and other trees. For a special delight, Matty will show us his mushroom operation in the forest understory! Finally, we will take a level walk along shady Bassett Hill Road towards the old Howe Farm.
In addition to serving as Guilford's tree warden, Matty is an instructor of woodland skills courses. His upcoming courses include Forest Cultivation of Mushrooms, Chainsawing for Greenhorns, and a special workshop on tree communication.
